Multi-Camera Data Paths: Camera Ingress, Ethernet, and Timing

As sensor count increases, three limits show up in the data path. GMSL2 channels cap how much camera data can enter per link and in aggregate. 1000BASE-T1 and 10GbE uplinks cap how much sensor and network traffic can move toward compute. And each additional node adds a clock that has to stay aligned to the same time reference before its data can be combined downstream.

Move the Data In
8× GMSL2 camera inputs, with up to 5 Gbps per channel, provide the ingress links for high-bandwidth camera streams. Required bandwidth increases with image resolution, frame rate, and bits per pixel.
Connect Distributed Sensors
10GbE uplinks carry aggregated traffic toward the compute platform. 1000BASE-T1 connects LiDAR, radar, and other distributed sensor nodes.
Use a Common Time Reference
PTP/gPTP distributes a shared time reference across supported devices, so timestamps from different sensor nodes can be interpreted against the same clock domain.
